Tonya A. Collins

​Tonya A. Collins is a dynamic multimedia production professional with over 15 years of experience in filmmaking, video production, and digital media strategy. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Picture and Television from the Academy of Art University and a Bachelor of Science in Television and Film Production from the City University of New York.

 

Throughout her career, Tonya has played a pivotal role in the media landscape within higher education, producing compelling video content that amplifies institutional messaging, promotes student success, and enhances alumni engagement. Currently serving as a Communication Broadcast and Multimedia Specialist at Kingsborough Community College, she spearheads multimedia content creation for marketing, recruitment, and fundraising efforts. She has also held key roles at Medgar Evers College, where she directed the Television and Radio Studio and developed digital media initiatives for the Office of Academic Affairs.

 

Beyond academia, Tonya is a seasoned freelance filmmaker, director, cinematographer, and editor. She has collaborated with organizations such as the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies, CARICOM, and CaribNews to produce impactful visual storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences. Her expertise spans videography, editing, directing, photography, audio/visual engineering, and graphic design.

 

With a deep passion for storytelling and a keen eye for visual composition, Tonya continues to push creative boundaries, leveraging multimedia to highlight social issues, celebrate cultural narratives, and drive engagement in the Caribbean, South America, and the U.S.
